Share A Square - that is precisely what we want you to do. We have always believed in simple acts of generosity, but this organisation is about so much more. We are about revival. At Share A Square, we want you to get involved and get your hands dirty (metaphorically of course).
Crochet, Knitting, Embroidery and Stiching - once considered the mark of a craftsman with a reputable repertoire are now simply viewed as old-woman pastimes. We are here to break that stereotype and reintroduce these art forms - infused with the spirit of giving. If that doesn't have you hooked, don't worry. We'll reel you in. Giving back to the community is our priority. As a charity, we stand for creativity and genuine connection. Every blanket we give out to the homeless and the needy, is a patchwork of YOUR creations. All we ask is for you to send in simple 6×6 inch squares which may be crocheted, stitched or knitted; and if you aren't well-acquainted with these skills - that's what we're here for. Learning a new skill can be intimidating, but we have simple hands-on tutorials to help you get started, and not want to stop. Handmade crafts are just that. They're real, personal and incredibly fulfilling to make.
Craft is an art and the true art of craft lies in its individuality. There's a sense of YOU attached to every square you send in.
Which is why we know that those in need, will be truly warm this winter.
This is a call for bringing back a medium of craft that we truly believe in. Grab your hooks and needles, learn a new skill and help those in need while you're at it.
